Just a little help...

Sims 1 Sims 2

Sims 1

Most Sims 1 files here are in ZIP format & require WinZIP or a similar program to extract them for use in the game.

Objects: Once the object files or ".iff" files are extracted, u can place them in your C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/GameData/UserObjects or C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/Downloads folders. I find the best way to organize my downloads is to put them in a subfolder with the name of the site where I got them. For example, u might put files from here in C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/GameData/User Objects/The B List or C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/Downloads/The B List.

Walls/Floors: Extract these ".wll" or ".flr" files to C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/GameData/Walls or GameData/Floors. U can organize these in subfolders as well.

Houses/Lots: Extract these to the neighborhood u want the house/lot to appear. For example, if u want to use a house in Neighborhood 6, u would place the house's ".iff" file in C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/UserData6 folder. BE CAREFUL! If u don't want your newly downloaded house to replace one u already have on an existing lot, save the existing lot someplace safe FIRST (like a folder on your desktop).

Skins/Heads: These files must be placed in your C://Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/GameData/Skins folder. U cannot place these in subfolders because they will not work.

Sims 2

Most Sims 2 files here are in RAR format & require WinRAR or a similar program to extract them for use in the game.

Objects: Once the object package files (".package" files) are extracted, u should place them in your C://My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads folder. If u don't have a Downloads folder, u can create one. As with Sims 1 files, u can put these in subfolders. For example, u might put files from here in C://My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads/The B List.

Walls/Floors: Same as with objects, extract the package files & place them in your C://My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads folder. These also can be placed in subfolders.

Houses/Lots: These are self-extracting ".SIMS2PACK" files. Simply click on the file & u will be asked if u want to install the content in your game. Click "Yes" & the house/lot will appear in your game in the Houses/Lots bin.

Skins (Genetics/Cosmetics/Clothing/Complete Sims): Sim parts such as makeup, clothing, eyecolor, etc will be in ".package" file format. Extract these to your C://My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads folder. If u have the Nightlife expansion, u can now put your skins into subfolders. If u don't, then just like in Sims 1, u cannot place skins in subfolders (they will not show in the game). But if u are like me & u don't want your skin files mixed up with your other downloads, u can place your skin files in your C://My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Saved Sims folder. Complete Sims will be in self-extracting ".SIMS2PACK". Just click the file & when u are asked if u want to install the content in your game, click "Yes". The Sim will now be available for u to choose in Bodyshop & the Create-a-Sim screen in the game.
