Why are some of the files on your site in "ZIP" format & some in "RAR" format? What's the difference? Most people are familar with ZIP files. For those that aren't, a ZIP file is like a folder that holds files but compresses them or makes them smaller so the total file is smaller, allowing for less storage space & bandwidth to be used. A RAR file does basically the same thing but it makes the files even smaller. ZIP files require WinZIP or a similar program to open them. RAR files require a seperate program like WinRAR. U can download a 40-day trial copy of WinRAR from RarLab & after the trial period is over, u can elect to purchase the program which also supports ZIP files. Most of the larger Sims 2 files on this site will be in RAR format.
What are your policies regarding cloning/re-coloring?*
Sims 1: Very simple, really. The items u will find here have been cloned/re-colored directly from The Sims™ game and/or one of the expansions I have (listed below), from "free-to-clone" items or with permission from the original creator(s). For those objects I cloned and/or re-colored from the game or free-to-clone items, feel free to re-color, re-do, make polka-dotted with pink stripes if u like! I don't mind & although credit & a link back would be super nice, I won't sting ya if u don't do either. LOL All that I ask is that none of the files here be used to make donation/pay site items unless they are offered as "freebies" (I didn't pay to use them, so I don't want anyone else to have to either) & that u change the in-game description to reflect the new item (so u can give yourself credit and/or let people know where to go for questions about the file.)
Sims 2: For anything I created using The Sims 2 Bodyshop (skins) or Homecrafter Plus (walls/floors) programs, u are welcome to use the materials (edit, re-color, etc.) to make your own files. U can recolor/clone any of the object files I made from Maxis items as long as u change the look in some way & rename the files to reflect your own name/ID. Credit & a link back to this site are always nice but not necessary. For those items I recolored/cloned from other creators, u must adhere to their terms of use and/or seek their expressed permission before using their files. If u want to edit any of my houses/lots to create your own or if u want to use my files to create items to be uploaded to The Sims 2 Exchange please contact me for permission FIRST.
As with Sims 1 files, none of the files here can be used to make donation/pay site items unless they are offered as "freebies". With regard to files I may be hosting for others, please consult the individual Read Me's, in-game descriptions and/or the creator's site for info. on their policies/permissions.
*There are certain files that are not clonable that I have given as gifts. It will be stated in the item's in-game description and/or Read Me whether a file is free-to-clone so be sure to read the info. listed there. My cloning/re-coloring policies refer to any files being offered as downloads not those created solely for personal use...u can edit whatever u like for use in your own game!*
Do u allow filesharing?*
Yes indeedy! Share, share, SHARE my fileshare friendly files! Just make sure that the original Read Me's are included & it is done via email ONLY. In other words, please don't put my files up on any sites, e-groups, The Sims 2 Exchange, forums, etc. without my permission. To view the general filesharing guidelines I follow, click here. Again, for those files here that I didn't create, always check the individual creator's/site's policies.
*There are certain files that are not sharable that I have given as gifts. It will be stated in the items in-game description and/or Read Me whether a file is fileshare friendly so be sure to read the info. listed there.*
If I use your objects in a house I built, can I include your files in the house zip?
If u wish to include any of the files here in your house/lot packages, all I ask is that u indicate somewhere, like in a Read Me or on the site/forum/group where the lot is posted, that it contains my file(s). This is just in case anyone has a problem with them, they know where the files came from. If u want to use my files in houses/lots u plan to upload to The Sims 2 Exchange, again, please contact me for permission FIRST.
Can I show your objects in screenshots?
Of course u can! (I love seeing people use my stuff.) Once more, a link is always appreciated but is not required.
I downloaded & installed some of your files but I don't see them in my game, what's wrong?
For Sims 1 files, that usually means that u don't have one or more of the expansions I have installed & therefore the items don't show up. For Sims 2, it could be an installation error (make sure u have placed the files in your Downloads folder) or the file may require installation of the CEP. (Click here for more info). If u are still having trouble seeing my Sims 2 files in your game, please contact me.
Can u make something for me?
Truth is I really don't have the time to take requests right now however, if it's something that I know won't be a huge hassle to do, I might give it a shot but just don't be in a rush for it.
